But his story doesn’t end there!
What’s Gautam’s Story?
A phoenix is an extraordinary being that rises from the ashes of it’s predecessor, reborn through a trial by fire.
It’s a beautiful bird. Granted, it’s a work of fiction, but the ideology it represents serves to inspire generations of achievers.
Rising from the ashes to become something better, stronger, more resilient.
Take any human being deemed as an achiever and you’ll find this to be the common recurring storyline.
Similarly, Gautam’s story is also one that is worth sharing.
Gautam's Inspiration
While most kids his age wanted to be cricketers, Gautam’s curiosity stretched a little farther outside the realms of what we already know. He wanted to find out if we were truly the only species lucky enough to thrive for millions of years in this vast Universe.
Of course, sending humans into outer space is one way to get to the bottom of that question, but probably not the best way. So, instead, Gautam’s interest diversified into building robots that could this for us and bring back tangible answers.
To quench his curiosity, Gautam decided to pursue to Master’s in Robotics at a top university that can provide him the means & the facilities.
What Happened The First Time?
With his sights set on CMU, Gautam ardently began on his journey to pursue his dream. He prepared for GRE® and took it up last year. While he scored a total of 319, which in itself is quite impressive, his Quants score was short of what he needed to get into CMU which crushed him.
His confidence was shattered and he was staring at the possibility of either settling for another school or give up on his dream.
The Turning Point
Not the one to admit defeat, Gautam decided to give himself a second chance. After all, no dream comes without setbacks.
That’s when, Gautam joined GREedge and prepared earnestly, this time, focusing on Quants and perfecting it.
In those 60 days of preparation, Gautam’s confidence grew, day by day. He worked hard, built his foundation and set out to the proverbial battleground once more.
This time, he left no room for mistakes.
With a 163 in Verbal and a whopping 165 in Quants, Gautam scored a massive 328 in GRE!
And guess what, he’s now on his way to achieve his next milestone - his CMU admit!
Luckily, Gautam, who scored a 163 in Verbal, has a simple solution that is tied to every strong memory you have as a child.
Can you guess what it is?
Why should you - Just ask him!
Do you ever feel like you lose out on your target score for Quants because of last-minute mistakes that you make?
Whether it’s because you’re panicking from lack of time or because you thought “you knew” the question, it’s still costing you your dream score.
Interestingly, Gautam’s first attempt at GRE® was less than satisfactory to him only because he couldn’t overcome this.
How did he kick the habit and score a whopping 165 in Quants the second time?
The journey to your dream university is quite long, starting with a 4-hour entrance test called GRE®.
How can you stay energized and avoid compromising your score by growing tired, particularly during the end of tests?
Gautam believes that this particular characteristic was one of the main aggravating factors for his silly mistakes.
Could it be yours too? If so, how can you overcome it?
- Do you get frustrated when you’re not able to rectify a mistake even though you know that you’re making it?
- Is your mock test score stuck at a particular range and stubbornly refusing to move ahead, despite your best efforts?
- Do you ever feel anxious about “messing up” on the day of the exam?
You don’t have to tell us. Just know that you’re not alone.
After a disappointing first attempt, Gautam’s confidence was crippled too. He was battling between retaking GRE® or just accepting his score.
How did he build his skills & confidence to conquer his fears?
